Ayr Race Course

Ayr Race Course is the premier race course in Scotland, home to the Coral Scottish Grand National and the William Hill Gold Cup Festivals. It hosts up to 30 race meetings a year and is the only Grade One track in the country, so if you fancy a day at the races it’s a no-brainer that Ayr’s the place to be. Set in 155 acres, it’s one of the best viewing courses too; not surprising considering horse racing dates back to the 17th century in this part of the country. It was opened in 1907 for its ideal flat track, and national hunt racing became part of the picture in 1950. If you think donning a hat is only done at Aintree however, think again. There are Club and Grandstand tickets for most of the meetings held, and spectators certainly like to dress up for the occasion. Make your day at the races even more memorable with the course’s corporate hospitality facilities, which offer fantastic views over the course. Award-winning chefs create wonderfully delicious dishes, champagne flows freely from morning till night, and you leave feeling special whenever you visit Ayr Race Course.

Just back from the Sun Raceday on 18 June. I was fortuneate to be granted an Owners and Trainers badge for the day, as I had been successful in the Elite Racing Club ballot, to watch our club horse Marsha. Disabled as I am, I was delighted by the way all the racecourse staff looked after me and my wife (my carer). It was a fantastic day, Marsha won easily and was able to get into the photographs. Thank you AYR for looking afterus so well on such an unforgettable day.
